Q: What kinds of things does a chiropractor treat?

A: Chiropractic optimizes health and vitality, whether you are in pain or not.  However, it is particularly helpful with lower back pain, neck pain, headaches, and pain or numbness in the shoulders, arms, hips, and legs. Chiropractors also commonly treat problems associated with automobile, work and athletic accidents and injuries.

Q: Does chiropractic treatment hurt?

A: In our office, the method of chiropractic adjusting is matched to each individual because everyone is different. Our goal is to treat our patients in the most gentle way possible, with the least force needed in order to get the best response for each patient. The office is able to care for all patients, from the infant to the elderly and osteoporotic. Adjustments are meant to be painless.

Q: Why do some people go to chiropractors over and over again?

A: You decide what you want out of chiropractic care. Pain relief can often be achieved without a significant number of visits. If you are interested in optimizing your health and function, more visits may be required. Either way, you are in charge of your care.

Q: How do I know this is the right place for me to be?

A: The first course of action is to determine what the problem is and then if chiropractic can help you. If yours is not a chiropractic problem, Dr. Cummins will tell you and help you find someone who can help your problem.

Q: Is chiropractic care covered by insurance?

A: We are preferred providers with most major insurance companies. They will usually provide some initial benefit for chiropractic care. For each one of our patients with insurance coverage, we are happy to provide you with a complimentary benefit check.

Q: What should I expect at the initial visit?

A: At the initial visit, our goal is to determine if we can help you, and if not, refer you to someone who can. We’ll do this from a consultation and an exam, which may include x-rays. From there, usually on a follow up visit, we’ll review the findings. We’ll discuss your options and determine your goals, along with addressing concerns and questions. Together we’ll establish a plan that best fits your needs.
