You might wonder what to expect if you’ve never been to a chiropractic session. Your first session will be all about explaining and determining exactly why you are seeking chiropractic care and determining if chiropractic can help your unique situation. Our office exam is designed to see if chiropractic can help you. If chiropractic can help, we will let you know and if not, we will point you in the right direction to achieve your health goals.
What Happens During a Chiropractic Adjustment?
During your first session, your chiropractor will:
- Go over your medical history.
- Perform your physical exam.
- Possibly take x-ray imaging if medically necessary.
- Potentially start with treatment.
- Schedule follow-ups, etc.
What Happens After a Chiropractic Adjustment?
Following the initial exam appointment, your chiropractor will speak with you to determine the best course of action for your ongoing care. You will be provided with a complete report of your exam findings so you can make the best decision possible on the next steps for your health. Some exercises or home traction that you can complete on your own may be given to you. Many patients find great relief from their chiropractic adjustments. Other therapies may be recommended like decompression, cold laser, traction or soft tissue work with Graston or ART technique. The following day after your adjustment, you can experience some discomfort. It will go away on its own unless the discomfort is severe or lasts more than a few days.
Crisis Care, The Critical Transition, and Lifestyle Care
If suffering from an injury and under Crisis Care, until the issue is resolved, you’ll likely work with the Doctor to schedule follow-up appointments over a few weeks. Once through the Critical Transition where your body has stabilized, you may choose to continue care for routine follow-ups to maintain the health of your joints. Our hope is for each of our patients to achieve their optimum health. Lifestyle Care is the best choice for many who are looking to not only be out of pain, but to be at their best. Whatever your stage in life, often times Chiropractic care can have a positive impact on your life. We look forward to helping you achieve your goals and working with you like a team.
